We are currently seeking a Graduate Project Electrical / Mechatronic Engineer to join our Fleet team. The successful candidate will participate in the Company Graduate Programme, designed to accelerate their learning and gain a good understanding of the business.
As the Graduate Project Engineer within the Waste Management NZ Ltd (WM) Fleet team, you will be heavily involved in the performance monitoring, design, build and ongoing development of new electric trucks within our Electric Vehicle programme ensuring WM develops and maintains a measureable competitive edge in respect of its collection vehicles and related plant and equipment.
The position will initially be based in Mt Wellington Auckland with an expectation that it will be relocated to Christchurch within the first year to assist in rolling out the programme across NZ.
Some of your key responsibilities include developing and undertaking monitoring programmes, utilizing this knowledge, in close consultation with the Technical Manager – Fleet and Senior Project Engineers to formulate proposed technology, design and operational initiatives, obtaining quotations and pricing for equipment and components and developing cost models, developing conceptual designs and carrying these through to detailed constructional plans and assisting in the build of specific vehicles.
To be successful in this role you ideally have the following attributes:
A New Zealand recognized Tertiary qualification/s (BE or equivalent is preferable) in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or similar.
A strong focus on Health and Safety
Working knowledge of electrical systems.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Skilled in Autocad and Solidworks
Skilled with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, MS Project and Outlook
Excellent English communication skills, analytical and liaison skills.
